  • 2 teaspoons sugar to activate yeast
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast or instant yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Filling
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning optional
Topping
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder for flavor
  • 1 teaspoon parmesan cheese grated, optional

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assemble the Breadsticks
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and Italian seasoning evenly over the dough.
  4. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and seal the edges.
  5. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pieces using a pizza cutter.
Bake the Breadsticks
  1. Place the cut breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parmesan cheese.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
