Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms. Let it rise for 15 minutes.
Shape and Boil
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Divide the dough into small balls and shape them into pretzel buns.
- Boil water in a pot, add baking soda, and boil each bun for 30 seconds. Remove and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush each bun with egg wash.
Bake and Assemble
- Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Once cooled, slice the buns and layer with Leberkäse, Emmental cheese, and pickles.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
