Zutaten
  

Meat and Marinade
  • 500 grams pork shoulder cut into thin strips
  • 100 ml Metaxa or any Greek brandy
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon oregano dried
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable Toppings
  • 1 large tomato diced
  • 1 large cucumber diced
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 100 grams feta cheese crumbled
  • 4 pieces pita bread
Sauce
  • 200 grams Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dill fresh or dried

Method
 

Marinade the Meat
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the pork strips with Metaxa, olive oil, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a separate bowl, mix Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and dill. Stir until well combined and set aside.
Cook the Gyros
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Spread the marinated pork evenly on a baking tray and bake for 25-30 minutes until cooked through and slightly crispy.
Serve
  1. Warm the pita bread in the oven for a few minutes. Serve the gyros in pita bread topped with diced tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, feta cheese, and a generous dollop of the yogurt sauce.
