Base
  • 4 slices white bread or any bread of choice
Toppings
  • 200 g bacon diced
  • 2 medium onions thinly sliced
  • 200 g crème fraîche
  • 100 g grated cheese e.g., Gruyère or Emmental
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for frying

Method
 

Prepare the Toppings
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced bacon and cook until crispy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the bacon and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
Assemble the Toast
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Spread a generous layer of crème fraîche on each slice of bread.
  3. Top with the crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and sprinkle grated cheese on top.
Bake the Toast
  1. Place the assembled toasts on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Remove from the oven, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve hot.
